What Tidy can do, what it cannot do yet, and how it is built.
What Tidy does
Tidy is a local-first file compressor and converter. It works with the file types and formats that its current browser-based processing tools can genuinely read, write, compress, or convert.
Support is being expanded over time. A file extension is not considered supported just because Tidy can recognise its name.
What Tidy does not do
Tidy does not pretend an unsupported conversion worked. When a format cannot be processed reliably in the browser, Tidy should tell you instead of giving you a broken or incorrectly labelled file.
Privacy
Supported files are processed in your browser instead of being sent to a Tidy file-processing server. This helps keep your files under your control and better protects your privacy.

If a file or extension you expected to work is not supported, please report it. File support will be expanded where it can be implemented reliably.
How Tidy is built
Tidy is maintained by Vision and developed with AI assistance. Vision designs the product, tests it, finds problems, and directs development while learning to code. AI writes much of the current code.
